Program Considerations
Progression | Description |
---|---|
Sport Specific | Analyze particular sport, break it down into its components & pick out the basic movements that are specific to that sport. Set up an individual program designed to work all of the motions & muscle groups involved. |
Bodybuilding | Basic premises is to develop maximum muscle hypertrophy, reduce fat & improve physical appearance. Muscle strength tends to be by product of training & is usually secondary concern. Symmetry & balance also very important component. |
Power Lifting | Characterized by use of the major power "lifts". Include the Clean & jerk & the snatch. Performed at near maximum loads for low reps. Must be closely monitored for overtraining. |
