What is an alloy A mixture of at least two metals
What is a non ferrous metal It does not contain Iron
What is an element A pure metal or mineral
What is the compostition and use of solder Lead and Tin. Used to join copper and brass
What is the composition and use of Brass Copper and zinc. It is used for decorative work. e.g candle holders
What is the compostion of and use for stainless steel Steel and Chromium, Used for a kitchen sink as it is rust resistant
What is the composition and use for Bronze Copper and Tin. Used for casting
What is Muntz metal A mixture of copper and zinc used for brazing
What is Spelter A mixture of copper and zinc used for brazing
Describe steel A mixture of Iron and carbon. There is no more than 2 percent carbon.
Describe cast iron A mixture of Iron and carbon. There is between 2 and 4 percent carbon.
Describe High Speed Steel Used in drill bits. Made of steel, vanadium, chromium and tungsten
Describe Galvanising Coating steel in zinc by dipping it into the molten zinc. It helps to prevent rusting.
Describe plastic dip coating Steel is heated to a purple color and dipped into polyethelyene to prevent rusting and improve the look.
