| Mafic | molten material with magnesium and iron |
| Pumice | extrusive rock that is cooled on top of the lava from the foam |
| Fine | rock texture that comes from quickly cooled, small crystals |
| Granite | common extrusive rock, found on continents due to lower density |
| Felsic | molten material that is compsoed of feldspar and silica |
| Basalt | intrusive rock found on ocean floor due to its high density |
| Extrusive | means cooled above the surface, from lava, cools quickly, small crystals |
