what is polarity? polarity is a condition in which opposite ends have positive and negative charge
why do water molecules attract each other? because of polarity.
why is water sometimes called the universal solvent? because so many substances can dissolve in it.
what causes drops to form? strong forces between molecules.
what causes water unique properties? molecules.
are there sodium in the ocean? yea.
where did the salt in the ocean come from? land.
what would happen if you placed drops of water on a counter? drops form.
define ocean currents it is a large volume of water flowing in a certain direction.
define gyre it is a circular system of currents.
explain why upwelling occurs because the wind blows across the ocean currents.
define benefit bring rich nutrients to surface
density currents are caused by? density
how many grams of dissolved salt are in each liter? 35
why is the surface water sinking and the water on the bottom rising? the wamer water rises to replace it.
define ocean currents. ocean currents is a large volume of water flowing in a certain direction.
what are the five major gyres? north pacific,south pacific,north Atlantic,south Atlantic,Indian ocean.
summarize how surface currents affect weather and climate. because warm water currents are often warmer and wetter then regions at cold water currents.
when you clap your hand and instantly you hear an echo of the clap. What does this tell you about the room? it tells you that the room has a little bit of room in it.
but when you clap your hand you hear an echo a few seconds later. What can you say about the size of the room? that the room has a lot of space.
at what point do waves begin to change upon entering shallow water? half its wave length.
how is wave length measured? trough to trough.
what causes a tsunami? water earthquake.
