| Question | Answer |

| Pluton | Any body of igneous rock that solidified far below the earths surface |
| Intrusive | Magma forced into cracks of other rocks and crystallized but not reaching the surface. |
| Xenolith | A rock fragment foreign to the igneous rock in which it is embedded |
| Sills | A horizontal intrusion of molten or solidified magma |
| Batholith | Large emplacement of igneous intrusive rock that forms from cooled magma deep in the earths crust. Almost always felsic or intermediate and is bigger than 100 km. |
| Dike | A vertical intrusion of molten or solidified magma |
| Columnar joints | Structure where sets of interesting closely spaced fractures result in the formation of regular array of polygonal prisms or columns. |
