Uses of adjectives

TermDefinition
Attributive adjective Gives additional information about noun it modifies, sentence would be sentence without it (Agricola miser ambulat in magnam vīllam- the unhappy farmer is walking into the large farmhouse)
Predicative adjective Usually with verb "to be", makes statement about the noun it modifies, if it is removed, there is no sentence (Agricola miser est, sed vīlla est magna-the farmer is unhappy, but hid farmhouse is large)
Substantive adjective No noun to modify, but used as noun itself, translate according to gender and number ("malus"-a bad man "mala"-a bad woman "malum"-a bad thing "malī"-bad men/the wicked "malae"-bad women "mala"-bad things, evils
