| Sound | Vibrations that travel through air or another medium and can be heard when they reach a person or animals ear |
| vocal cords | A pair of flaps on either side of the larynx that are responsible for the production of sound including speech |
| Hertz | Used to measure the frequency of sound (pitch) |
| Decibles | Used to measure the the amplitude of sound ( loudness or volume). |
| outer ear | The pinna ,ear canal, and ear drum make up the outer ear |
| Middle ear | hs the smallest bones in the body: the hammer, anvil and stirrup |
| Inner ear | The cochleas a snail shaped tube that is lined wit receptors (tiny hair cells that shakes back and forth) that respond to sound |
