CTC Musculoskeletal Treatment

| Bursitis | apply heat; immobilize joint; remove excess fluid; give steroids |
| Arthritis | balance exercise (in warm water) with rest; immobilize joint; weight control; splints & braces to prevent contractures |
| Osteoporosis | HANDLE PT GENTLY;gentle range of motion exercises; splints & braces to support bones; medication to replace calcium; mechanical lift & extra help when moving pt |
| Fibromyalgia | pain medication; exercise; uninterrupted sleep |
| Fractures | pain & inflammation medical, immobilize fracture, range of motion exercises; encourage fluid input, check skin for: C- color, M-motion, E-edema, T-temperature |
| Fractured Hip | trapeze to assist with movement; TEDs; bedpan; HOB kept at 45 or less; abduction pillow to keep legs apart; ROM exercises; watch for heel pressure ulcers |
| Total Joint Replacement | CPM:continuous passive motion; TEDs; check skin: redness, edema, irritation |
| Compartment Syndrome | monitor pt's extremities for: color, pain, temperature; give emotional support |
| Ruptured or Slipped Disc | rest; medication; ice; compresses; physical therapy; exercise |
| Amputation | gently wash stump; watch for: redness, edema, drainage or open areas at incision |
