Term Definition
Mass Body of matter with no specific shape, weight, depends on gravity Ex: Sun is very massive
Matter Something that has mass and takes up space = solid, liquid, gas, & plasma Ex: raindrops, snow, water, vapor, Earth
Gravity Force of action between 2 objects; both depend on mass & distance
Rotation Movement of an object on its axis spinning counter-clockwise
Revolution Movement of a celestial object around another orbital path
Orbit A path a celestial object takes around another
Newton-law of universal gravitation Every object in the universe attracts every other object
Inertia The tendency of an object to resist a change in motion. More mass=greater the inertia
Newtons Units that measure the force of gravity
The strength of the force of gravity between 2 objects depends on 2 factor: the masses of the objects & the distance between them.
