Magma forms when rock melts
Intrusive Magma cools below ground; larger crystals can form
Extrusive Lava that tools at the surface

Porphyritic Rock with a mix of large and small crystals; granite is an example
Glassy obsidian
Vesicular pumice
Felsic forms from magma with high concentration of silica. ( Ex: granite)
Mafic forms from magma with concentration of iron and magnesium. ( Ex: basalt)
