Igneous Rock One of the three main rock types, the others being sedimentary and metamorphic.
Magma Hot fluid or semi fluid material below or within the earth's crust from which lava and other igneous rock is formed by cooling.
Crystalline Having the structure and form of a crystal; composed of crystals.
Instruisve Magma forced into older rocks at depths within the Earth's crust
Exstrusive An Extrusive igneous rock cools very fast on the surface and is created by lava
Coarse-grained coarse in texture or grain
Fine-grained having a fine or delicate arrangement of fibers
Porphyritic relating to or denoting a rock texture, typically found in volcanic rocks, containing distinct crystals or crystalline particles embedded in a fine-grained groundmass.
Glassy resembling glass in some way, in particular
Vesicular a volcanic rock texture characterized by a rock being pitted with many cavities at its surface and inside.
Felsic elating to, or denoting a group of light-colored minerals including feldspar, feldspathoids, quartz, and muscovite.
Mafic denoting, or containing a group of dark-colored, mainly ferromagnesian minerals such as pyroxene and olivine.
