| Term | Definition |

| Hypothesis | A statement of what you think will happen during an investigation. |
| Observation | Is something you find out about objects, events, or living things by using your senses. |
| Experiment | Is the use of scientific methods to test your hypothesis. |
| Variable | Is something that change in a test. |
| Independent Variable | Is one that you can control. |
| Dependent Variable | Changes a when a independent variable changes. It is what gets measured. It gives you data. |
| Control Group | The group that doesn't get the special treatment. |
| Procedures | Are a step by step instructions for completing a task. |
| Data | Are information from which a conclusion can be drawn or a prediction can be made. |
| Precision | Is the ability to consistently repeat a measurement. |
| Accuracy | Is the ability to make a measurement that is as close to the actual value as possible. |
| Inference | Is a conclusions based on observations. |
| Evidence | They are observations that make you believe that something is true. |
| Model | Are objects or ideas that represent other things. |
| Surveys | Questions that are answered by people. Great for option questions. |
| Sampling | Examining random individuals from a population. |
| Experimental Group | The group that gets the special treatment. |
