| Term | Definition |

| Hypothesis | is a statement of what you think will happen in an investigation. |
| Observation | is something you find out about objects, events, or living things by using your senses. |
| Experiment | is the use of scientific methods to test your hypothesis. |
| Variable | something can change in a test. |
| Independent Variable | one you can control. |
| Dependent Variable | changes when an independent variable changes. it is what gets measured. it gives you data |
| Control group | not special group treatment |
| Procedures | step by step instructions for completing a task |
| Data | are info from which a conclusion can be drawn or a prediction can be made |
| Precision | the ability to constantly repeat a measurement |
| Accuracy | the ability to make a measurement that is as close to the actual value as possible |
| Inference | a conclusion based on observations |
| Evidence | observations that make you believe that something is true |
| Model | objects or ideas that represent other things |
| Experimental Group | the group that gets a special treatment |
| Surveys | questions that are answered by people. great for opinion |
