| Term | Definition |

| Hypothesis | A statement of what you think will happen during an investigation. |
| Observation | Something you find out about objects ,events,or living things by using your senses. |
| Experiment | The use of scientific methods to test your hypothesis. |
| Variable | Something that can change in a test. |
| Independant Variable | Is one that you can control. |
| Dependant Variable | Changes when an indepedant variable changes. It is what is measured This is your data. |
| Control Group | The group that doesn't get the special treatment. |
| Procedures | Are step-by-step instructions for completing a task. |
| Data | Information from which a conclusion can be drawn or a prediction can be made. |
| Precision | Is the ability to consistently repeat a measurement |
| Accuracy | Is the ability to make a measurement that is as close to the actual value as possible. |
| Inference | Is inference is the dog barking because it sees a rabbit. |
| Evidence | Are observations that make you believe that something Is true. |
| Survey | Questions that are answered by people.Great for opinion questions. |
| Sampling | Examining random individuals from a population. |
| Models | Objects or ideas that repreasent other things. |
| Experimental group | The group that gets the special treatment. |
