| hypothesis | is a statement of what you think will happen during an investigation. |
| observation | is something you find out about objects,events,or living things by using your senses. |
| experiment | is the use of scientific methods to test your hypothesis. |
| variable | is something that can change in a test. |
| independent variable | is one that you can control. |
| dependent variable | changes when an independent variable changes. It is what gets measured.It is your data. |
| control group | is a standard against which change is measured. |
| procedures | are step-by-step instructions for completing a task. |
| data | are information from which a conclusion can be drawn or a predication can be made. |
| precision | is the ability to consistently repeat a measurement. |
| accuracy | is the ability to make a measurement that is as close to the actual value as possible. |
| inference | is a conclusion based on observation. |
| evidence | are observations that make you believe that something is true. |
| model | objects and ideas that represent other things. |
| survey | questions that are answered by people. |
| sample | to collect data. |
| experimental group | the group that gets the special treatment. |
| control group | The group that doesn't get the special treatment. |
