Science chapter 1

TermDefinition
Hypothesis it is a statement of what you think will happen during an investigation.
Observation it is something you find out about objects, events, or living things by using your senses.
Experiment it is the use of scientific methods to test your hypothesis.
Varible it is something that can change in a test.
Control group The group that doesn't get the special treatment.
Procedures they are step-by-step instructions for completing a task.
Data it is information from wich a conclusion can be drawn or a prediction can be made.
Precision it is the ability to consistently repeat a measurement.
Accuracy it is the ability to make a measurement that is as close to the acual value as possible.
Inference it is a conclusion based on observations.
Evidence it is observations that make you believe that something is true.
Independant variable it is one that you control.
Dependent variable it is a variable changes when an independent variable changes. Its what gets measured. It gives you data
Model it is objects or ideas that represent other things.
Survey it is questions that are answered by people great for opinion questions.
Sampling it is examining random people from a population
Experimental group The group that gets the special treatment.
