| Term | Definition |

| Hypothesis | it is a statement of what you think will happen during an investigation. |
| Observation | it is something you find out about objects, events, or living things by using your senses. |
| Experiment | it is the use of scientific methods to test your hypothesis. |
| Varible | it is something that can change in a test. |
| Control group | The group that doesn't get the special treatment. |
| Procedures | they are step-by-step instructions for completing a task. |
| Data | it is information from wich a conclusion can be drawn or a prediction can be made. |
| Precision | it is the ability to consistently repeat a measurement. |
| Accuracy | it is the ability to make a measurement that is as close to the acual value as possible. |
| Inference | it is a conclusion based on observations. |
| Evidence | it is observations that make you believe that something is true. |
| Independant variable | it is one that you control. |
| Dependent variable | it is a variable changes when an independent variable changes. Its what gets measured. It gives you data |
| Model | it is objects or ideas that represent other things. |
| Survey | it is questions that are answered by people great for opinion questions. |
| Sampling | it is examining random people from a population |
| Experimental group | The group that gets the special treatment. |
