| igneous rock | A rock formed by crystallization of molten magma |
| lava | Magma that reaches Earth's surface |
| magma | Body of molten rock found beneath Earth's surface |
| metamorphic rock | A rock formed by the alteration of preexisting rock deep within Earth by heat |
| rock cycle | The continuous processes that changes the make up of rocks |
| sedimentary rock | A rock formed by preexisting products |
| sediments | Loose particles created by weathering, erosion and chemical precipitation |
| weathering | A process in which rocks are physically and chemically broken down by water, gravity, glaciers, or wind |
