GI Vocabulary Ch. 2

TermDefinition
Biodiversity The variety of plants, animals, and other living things in an environment.
Ecological Footprint The amount of natural resources we use, and how that impacts the environment.
Ecosystem The way living things (species) and their environment work together.
Species A group of living things that can produce offspring (babies).
Natural Resources Things we use that are already there in the earth.
Environment The area around you
Population Total number of people who live in a country or area.
Population Density Talking about whether the number of people in an area is crowded or spread out.
Unemployment When a person who wants a job can't find one.
GDP (Gross Domestic Product) All the things a country or place being talked about makes.
Electrical Consumption The amount of electricity people use.
Petroleum Consumption The amount of oil people use.
Extinct When a specie disappears, and it NEVER comes back again.
Pollution Things that are NOT healthy for the earth.
