What is a windmill? A windmill is a machine that generates power by catching wind energy and stores it for electricity.
What is the risk of mining? Extremely damaging to the earth.
What are the two advantages of solar power? It is free and non-polluting.
What is pollution? Pollution is made up of harmful materials/chemicals in earth's water source or on earth's land.
What is point-source pollution? Point-source pollution is pollution from a known source or location.
What is non-point source pollution? Non-point source pollution is pollution from an unknown location or source.
What is the difference between point-source and non-point source pollution? The difference between the 2 is that you can determine where point-sorce pollution came from.
What is a renewable source? A renerwable resource is a resource that can be easily reporduced.
What does the chemical composition of the earth do? The chemical composition helps maintain life on Earth.
What is global warming and how does it affect us? An alter in the carbon cycle and contributed to the unnatural warming of the lower atmosphere.
What are the effects of power plants? Power Plants release sulfer dioxide and nitrogen oxides.
What is the Clean Air Act? (CAA) This led to sewage treatment plants.
What are land resources? The Earths's land provides soil, forests, as well as mineral and energy resources.
How do we care for land resources? We care for land resources by preventing pollution, and managing land resources wisely.
What is Conservation? Conservation is the careful use of resources.
What did the Clean Water Act do? The CWA eliminated some of the pollution in the water that we use.
What is compost? Partly decomposed organic material that is used a fertilizer.
Why is freshwater a vital resource? Freshwater is a valid source because it is a very important resource that is needed for us to live, and is always contaminated.
What is Tidal Power? Tidal Power is harnessed by a dam at the mouth of a bay or estuary.
In what two ways is geothermal energy used? Geotheramal energy is used to for heating and generating electricity.
