Rock Is any solid mass of mineral.
Igneous Rock A rock form of molten magma.
Sedimentary Rock rock formed from the weathering of other rocks
Metamorphic Rock rock formed by alteration of preexisting of molten rock under Earth's surface
Rock Cycle a model that shows the origin of three basic rock types
Magma Molten rock underneath the earth's crust
Lava Molten rock outside the Earth's surface
Weathering the decomposition of rock
Sediments Are often moved by water, glaciers, gravity, or wind.
Intrusive Igneous Rock Rock that is formed beneath the Earth's surface.
Exstrustive Igneous Rock rock that is formed outside of the earth's crust
Porphyritic Texture an igneous texture that is composed of large crystals composed of smaller crystals
Granitic Composition A group of igneous rocks with light colored silicates
Basaltic Composition igneous rocks with dark silicate minerals
Andesitic Composition The compaction of sedimentary rocks lying between felsic and mafic
Ultramafic igneous rock mostly composed of iron and magnesium minerals
Erosion incorperation and transportation of material by a mobile agent
Deposition The process in which an agent of erosion loses energy.
Compaction A process is which sediments are squeezed together
Cementation deposition of dissolved minerals in tiny spaces in sedimentary rocks.
