cuticle waxy, waterproof layer that covers the leaves of most plants.
vascular tissue system of tube-like structures inside a plant through which water, minerals, and food move.
zygote fertilized egg
non-vascular plant plants that lack a well-developed system of tubes for transporting water and other materials
vascular plant plants with true vascular tissue
sporophyte in this stage, the plant produces spores
gametophyte in this stage, the plant produces two kinds of sex cells: sperm cells and egg cells
rhizoid thin, root-like structures that anchor the moss and absorb water and nutrients from the soil
frond a fern's leaves; divided into many smaller parts that look like small leaves
