ES 09 groundwater

| springs | a natural discharge of groundwater |
| hot springs | a spring of natural hot water |
| geyser | is a explosive hot spring |
| carbonic acid | groundwater that is slightly acidic |
| calcite | what acidic acid dissolves |
| Stalactites | a icicle like structure hanging from the roof of a cave formed by calcite precipitation |
| hard water | water that contains a concentration of Ca, Mg, or Fe |
| Wells | is a hole in the ground used to reach an aquifer |
| ordinary well | a well that reaches below the water table |
| cone of depression | something that can occur in a well when the well is overpumped |
| recharge | process in which water moves downward form surface water to groundwater |
