Ocean Currents

Unit 1 Lesson 3

QuestionAnswer
Ocean Current Stream like movements of water on the ocean.
Surface Current An ocean current that occurs on the surface of the ocean.
Deep Current Current that occurs deep below the surface of the ocean.
Convection Current Movement of water caused by differences in density.
Upwelling Currents that move away from a shoreline where cold water comes to surface to replace the warm surface water.
Coriolis Effect The deflection of moving objects away from a straight line.
