| sexual reproduction | two parents combined their genetic material to produce a new organism which differs from both parents |
| conjugation | one bacterium transfers some genetic material through a threadlike bridge, |

| protist | eukaryotes that cannot be classified as animals, plants, or fungi. |
| protozoan | can be classified as into four groups, based on the way they move and live. |
| pseudopod | temporary bulges of the cell. |

| fungi | eukaryotes that have cell walls, and use spores to reproduce |
| hyphae | branching threadlike tubes that make up that make up the bodies of multicellular fungi |
| fruiting body | fungi that produce spores in reproductive structures |
| budding | unicellular yeast cells that undergo a form of sexual reproduction. |
| lichen | a fungus and either algae or autotrophic bacteria that live together in a mutualistic relationship |
