| cleft palate | congenital fissure of the roof of the mouth produced by failure of the two maxillae to unite during embryonic development and often associated with cleft lip—called also palatoschisis. |
| condyle | a rounded articular projection on the surface of a bone |
| crest | a projection, or projecting structure or ridge, especially one surmounting a bone or its border |
| craniostenosis | malformation of the skull caused by premature closure of the cranial sutures |
| deviated septum | a physical disorder of the nose, involving a displacement of the nasal septum. |
| fontanel | a relatively soft fibrous region between two flat bones in the developing skull |
| foramen | an opening or passage through a bone |
| fossa | a shallow depression or furrow in the surface of a bone |
| kyphosis | exaggerated thoracic curvature in the spine |
| lordosis | exaggerated lumbar curvature in the spine |
| meatus | A body opening or passage, such as the opening of the ear or the urethral canal |
| microcephaly | abnormal smallness of the head, a congenital condition associated with incomplete brain development |
| neck (of bone) | A section of bone (esp. of long bones) between the "head" and the "shaft" of the bone |
| orbit | the bony cavity containing the eyeball and its associated muscles, vessels, and nerves |
| scoliosis | abnormal lateral curvature of the spine |
| sinusitis | inflammation of the nasal sinus |
| spina bifida | a condition resulting from the failure of the vertebral lamina to unite during development; commonly associated with developmental abnormalities of the brain and spinal cord. |

| whiplash | injury resulting when a sudden change in body position injures the cervical vertebrae |
