| Term | Definition |

| Fossil Fuels | a natural fuel such as coal or gas, formed in the geological past from the remains of living organisms. |
| Nuclear Energy | the energy released during nuclear fission or fusion, especially when used to generate electricity. |
| Hydroelectric Energy | electricity generated by hydropower; the production of electrical power through the use of the gravitational force of falling or flowing water. |
| Wind Energy | conversion of wind energy into a useful form of energy, such as using wind turbines to produce electrical power, windmills for mechanical power, windpumps for water pumping or drainage, or sails to propel ships. |
| Geothermal Energy | the heat from the earth. |
| Biomass Energy | fuel that is developed from organic materials, a renewable and sustainable source of energy used to create electricity or other forms of power. Some examples of materials that make up biomass fuels are: scrap lumber. |
