Types of Rocks

intrusive igneous rock Solidifies below the earths surface
Extrusive igneous rock Solidifies outside the earths surface
Foliated metamorphic rock Produced by exposure to heat and pressure
Non foliated metamorphic rock Does not have a layered or banded appearance
Clastic sedimentary rock Formed of other pieces of other rocks
Chemical sedimentary rock Formed from the precipitation of minerals from water and water vapor
Organic sedimentary rock Formed from the accumulation and lithification of organic debris
