What are Physical Changes? Changes that do not change the substance into something new.
What does it mean to melt something? To turn a solid into a liquid by gaining heat and making particles move faster. Example: Turning ice into water.
What does it mean to boil something? To turn a liquid into a gas by gaining heat and making particles move faster. Example: Example: Boiling water for pasta.
What does it mean for something to be under sublimation? To turn a solid into a gas by gaining heat and making particles move faster. Example: Dry ice.
What does it mean for something to be under condensation? To turn a gas into a liquid by losing heat and making particles move slower. Example: Getting water on the outside of your lemonade cup.
What does it mean for something to be under evaporation? To turn a liquid to a gas by gaining heat and making particle move faster. Example: Having water turn into water vapor.
What does it mean to freeze something? To turn a liquid to a solid by losing heat and making particles move slower. Example: Turning water into ice.
