| elliptical | involving ellipsis, especially so as to be difficult to understand. |
| geocentric | measured from or considered in relation to the center of the earth. |
| gravitational force | gravitation states that any two bodies in the universe attract each other with a force that is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. |
| heliocentric | measured from or considered in relation to the center of the sun. |
| moon | the natural satellite of the earth, visible (chiefly at night) by reflected light from the sun. |
| orbit | the curved path of a celestial object or spacecraft around a star, planet, or moon, especially a periodic elliptical revolution. |
| planet | a celestial body moving in an elliptical orbit around a star. |
| solar system | the collection of eight planets and their moons in orbit around the sun, together with smaller bodies in the form of asteroids, meteoroids, and comets. |
| parallax | Parallax is a displacement or difference in the apparent position of an object viewed along two different lines of sight. |
