TermDefinition
Topographic Map (aka topo map) are types of maps that show changes in elevation on the Earth's surface.
Elevation is a measurement of how far above or below sea level something is.
Contour Lines are lines that connect points or areas of equal elevation.
A coordinate system is a method of locating points by labeling them with numbers or coordinates.
Latitude is measured in degrees north and south of the equator
The Prime Meridian is the reference point for longitude. It goes through the Greenwich Observatory near London, England.
The equator is a latitude line in the middle of the globe that separates the Earth into two equal halves called the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
