The Water Cycle
| Term | Definition |

| Evaporation | When warm water rises, and becomes a vapor. |
| Condensation | When water vapor turns into droplets, and forms around dust particles to make clouds. |
| Precipitation | When water droplets become so big and heavy that they fall from the clouds, down to the ground. *Rain, sleet, hail, and snow. |
| The water cycle | The system in which water is continuously recycled naturally. |
| Temperature | The degree of heat or cold an object has. |
| Run-off | The rain water that flows from land to a body of water. |
| Ground water | Water that has soaked into the ground and can last from days to millions of years. |
| High pressure | When the pressure of the air is high. Weather includes rain and storms. Represented by an "H" on a weather map. |
| Low pressure | When the pressure of the air is low. Weather includes sunny, calm, and clear weather. Represented by an "L" on a weather map. |
| El Nino | An abnormal change in wind patterns and climate that happens about every 2-7 years. |
| Gulf stream | The largest, most powerful surface current in North America that is caused by strong winds in the west. |
| Coriolis Effect | The effect the Earth's rotation on the direction of winds and currents. |
| Upwelling | The movement of cold water upward from the deep ocean. |
| Salinity | The amount of salt in a body of water. |
| Recycle | The evaporation of water (1) into the atmosphere, the condensation of water in the atmosphere (2), and the precipitation of water down to Earth (3). |
| Water vapor | Water in the state of a gas. |
| Current | A long stream of moving water or air. |
