| Term | Definition |

| Flood | A situation in which water has flowed over the edges of a river to overflow. |
| Hurricane | A storm with strong winds and rain that forms over tropical (WARM ocean) waters. |
| Blizzard | Dangerous winter storms that are a combination of blowing snow and wind resulting in very low visibilities. |
| Thunderstorm | A weather system that produces heavy precipitation, winds, lightning, and thunder. |
| Hail | Small, icy balls that fall from the sky. |
| Rain | Liquid water that falls from the sky. |
| Sleet | Frozen rain or precipitation in the form of ice pellets. |
| Freezing Rain | Rain that falls as a liquid but freezes into glaze upon contact with the ground. |
| Tornado | A funnel-shaped cloud or column of air that rotates at high speeds and extends downward from a cloud to the ground. |
| Snow | Snow is precipitation in the form of flakes of crystalline water ice that falls from clouds. |
