Science Vocab Ch1

TermDefinition
Astronomy The study of the moon, stars, and other objects in space.
Axis An imaginary line that passes through Earth's center.
Rotation Earth spinning on its axis.
Revolution The movement of one object around another object.
Orbit Earth's path as it revolves around the sun.
Latitude A measurement of distance from the equator, expressed in degrees north and south.
Solstice A day when the sun is overhead at 23.5 degrees at noon.
Equinox A day with equal day and night.
Vernal Equinox Occurs around March 21st.
Autumnal Equinox Occurs on September 23
