| Sunspot: | A dark area of the photo-sphere of the sun that is cooler than the surrounding area`s and that has a strong magnetic field. |
| Solar Flare: | An explosive release of energy that comes from the sun and that is associated with magnetic disturbances on the suns surface. |
| Prominence: | A loop of relativity cool,incandescent gas that extends above the photo-sphere and above the sun`s edge as seen from earth. |
| Core: | The central part of earth below the mantle. |
| Radiative Zone: | The radiative zone is the layer of the sun through which energy is transferred away from the core by radiation. |
| Convection Zone: | The convective zone layer of the sun through which energy travels by convection from the radiative zone to the photosphere. |
