Autocracy one person has complete control of the government
Dictatorship One person controls the government by force. (examples: Hitler, Stalin, Castro)
Absolute Monarchy King or Queen has complete control of the government
Oligarchy A small group of people rule the government
Democracy Citizens vote for leaders through elections
Presidential democracy Citizens vote for a president (example: USA)
Parliamentary Democracy Citizens vote for the Members of Parliament (Lawmaking body), and the Members of Parliament vote for the Prime Minister (Example: United Kingdom)
Constitutional Monarchy The King or Queen has limited power so the citizens can rule through elected officials (Example: United Kingdom)
Republic Citizens vote for representatives to make decisions in the government
Communism Government controls all economic and political decisions for the citizens
