| Executive Office of the President | The cluster of presidential agencies that help the President carry out his duties. Currently, this includes the OMB, CEA, and several other units. |
| Office of Management and Budget (OMB) | Presidential staff agency that serves as a clearinghouse for budgetary requests and management improvements for governmental agencies. |
| National Security Council (NSC) | A committee in the executive branch of government that advises the president on foreign and military and national security. |
| Council of Economic Advisors (CEA) | An executive agency responsible for providing economic advice to the President. |
| Executive Agencies | The Federal government agencies that are headed by presidential appointees. |
| Independent Agencies | Government entity that that is independent of the legislative, judicial, or executive branch. |
| Acting Appointments | A temporary appointment to a position to be decided on and approved later. |
| Presidential Honeymoon | The short period after a President is inaugurated when the opposition party refrains from action. |
