TermDefinition
DNA The molecule that carries genetic information
Chromosome Strand composed of DNA that contains genes
Gene Unit of heredity; a specific section of DNA with a chromosome
Alleles Another form of a gene
Heterozygous Two (different) alleles of a given gene
Homozygous Two (identical) alleles of a given gene
Genotype The genetic makeup of an individual (letters)
Phenotype The physical characteristics of an individual (description)
Dominant Allele that completely masks the presence of the other - CAPITAL LETTERS ONLY
Recessive Allele exhibited only when two recessive traits are there - lowercase letters only
