Water Treatment Process of treating (cleaning) water
Potable Drinkable (safe to drink)
Coagulation A chemical such as alum is added to make sediments (dirt) clump together
Sedimentation / Settling Heavy dirt settles to the bottom and can be removed
Filtration Water is filtered through a charcoal screen to remove sediments (dirt)
Disinfection Water is treated with chlorine to kill microorganisms (bacteria) in the water
