El Nino Warmer than sea-surface temperatures in the tropical Pacific Ocean that have an effect on global weather
La Nina cooler-than-normal sea surface temperatures in the central and eastern Pacific Ocean, near the equator off the west coast of South America
drought A prolonged shortage of rainfall
cold front When a COLD AIR MASS pushes into a warm air mass
warm front When a WARM AIR MASS pushes into a cold air mass
occluded front A front that develops when two masses of cold air meet
boundary A line that shows where an area ends and another area begins
air mass A large body of air that has the same temperature and moisture level throughout
heat The transfer of thermal energy. (Example: How hot something is)
 jet streams High speed winds in the upper atmosphere that flow from WEST to EAST
stationary front When a cold front or a warm front stays in a place for several days without invading another front
