| Examples of matter | Humans, smoke, water, textbook, ladybug |
| Examples of non-matter | energy, light, and sound |
| Mass | How much matter is in something |
| Weight | The pull of gravity on an object |
| The difference of mass and weight on Earth and the moon | Mass stays the same, weight decreases on the moon because there is less gravity |
| Element | Contains only one type of atom |
| Molecule | Two or more atoms are chemically combined |
| How can you separate compounds | By breaking the bonds between the atoms |
| Do atoms and molecules move? Explain | Yes, they slide in a liquid, they vibrate, in a solid, and they move freely in a gas |
