Electromagnetic Wave A combination of Electric and Magnetic fields that move perpendicular(snake like)(Dolphin like motion
electric field Surround every charged object- it pulls oppositly charged objects and repels like charged objects (static-baloons stuck to hair)
magnetic field surrounds every magnet-Positive and Negitive (a parer clip pulls towards a magnet)
radiation a transfer of energy as electromaagnetic wave
Electromagnetic spectrum all frequencies of wave lengths of electromagnetic radiation
radio waves waves that cover a wide range of wave in the EM spectrum (radio and TV broadcast radio waves)
visible waves a narrow range of wavelenghts and frequencies in the electromagnetic spectrum that contain all of the colors that you can see
Microwave is a shorter wavelength with higher frequencies (Microwave ovens) (Cell phones)
Visible spectrum the range of all colors of light you can see
ultraviolet light an electromagnetic wave produced by the sun (a sun burn)
transmission a passing of light or other forms of energy through matter (seeing something out a window)
transparent decribles matter that allows light to pass through with little interference (a plastic baggie)
translucent decribes matter that transmits light but that does not transmit an image (wax paper)
opaque decribes a objrct that is not transparent of translucent (foil) you can't see throught it
melanin the pigment that gives your skin color
cholorophill the pigment that gives plants a green color
