Stars

TermDefinition
Star a fixed luminous point in the night sky that is a large, remote incandescent body like the sun.
Apparent Magnitude the magnitude of a celestial object as it is actually measured from the earth.
Luminosity luminous quality.
Absolute Magnitude the magnitude (brightness) of a celestial object as it would be seen at a standard distance of 10 parsecs.
Temperature the degree or intensity of heat present in a substance or object, especially as expressed according to a comparative scale and shown by a thermometer or perceived by touch.
Main-Sequence Star In astronomy the main sequence is a continuous and distinctive band of stars that appears on plots of stellar color versus brightness.
Astronomical Unit (Au) The average distance from the Earth to the Sun.(93 million miles)
