Experiment/States_Of_Matter

States Of Matter A property of matter classified as a solid,liquid or gas
Physical Property Characteristics of a substance that can be measured
Physical Changes A change of matter in size,shape,or state without changing it into a new substance
Conclusion A statement saying whether the result of an experiment support the hypothesis
Volume The amount of space an object takes up
Classify To arrange in or assign to groups
Variable Something that can change in a test
Control Group A standard against which change is measured
Gas A substance without a definite volume or shape
Solubility Ability of one substance to dissolve in another
Freezing Point The temperature at which a substance changes from a liquid to a solid
Experiment The use of scientific investigation and reasoning to text a hypothesis
Observation Something you find out about objects, events, or living things using your senses
Hypothesis Statement of what you think will happen during an investigation
Reasearch Study of a variety of reference materials about a subject
Inference A conclusion based on observations
Evidence Observations that make you believe something is true
Melting Point The temperature at which a substance changes from a solid to a liquid
Solution A mixture in which substances are spread out evenly and will not settle
Liquid A substance that has a definite volume but no definite shape
Matter Anything that has mass and takes up space
Magnetism The ability of an object to attract certain metal object
Solid A substance that has a definite shape and volume
Mixture Different materials placed together, but each material keeps its own properties
Boiling Point The temperature at which a substance changes from a liquid to a gas
Mass The amount of matter in a solid,liquid, or gas
Procedure Step-by-step instructions for completing a task
Model Object or idea that shows how something is constructed or how it works
Data Information from which a conclusion can be drawn or a prediction can be made
Constant A part of an experiment that is not changed
Density The mass of an object divided by its volume
