| Hydrosphere | The water portion of the Earth |
| Atmosphere | Gaseous envelope around a planet |
| Geosphere | Layer of Earth under the atmosphere and hydrosphere; it is composed of the core, mantle, and crust |
| Biosphere | The sphere in which, all life on Earth. Parts of solid Earth, hydrosphere, and atmosphere where living organisms are found. |
| Core | The innermost layer of the Earth. Located beneath the mantle and divided into inner core and outer core. |
| Mantle | Located below the crust. 2,890 km thick. |
| Crust | Thin rocky outer layer of Earth. |
| Earth Science | Name for all the sciences that collectively seek to understand the Earth. |
| Geology | Science that examines the earth, its form and composition, changes it has undergone and is undergoing. |
| Oceanography | Scientific study of the oceans. |
| Meteorology | Scientific study of the atmosphere. |
| Astronomy | Scientific study of the universe. |
| Asthenosphere | A weak soft layer of the mantle situated below the lithosphere; The rock within this zone is easily deformed. |
| Lithosphere | The rigid outer layer of Earth, including the crust and the upper mantle. |
