| solid | the state of matter in which the volume and shape of a substance are fixed |
| liquid | the state of matter that has a definite volume but not a definite shape |
| Gas | a form of matter that does not have a definite volume or shape |
| melting point | temperature at which a solid change to a liquid |
| vaporization | in which a liquid changes to a gas |
| Boiling point | temperature at which a liquid vaporize and changes to a gas |
| condensation | the change of state from gas to a liquid |
| Freezing point | at which a liquid changes to a solid |
| sublimation | the process in which solid changes directly into gas |
| phase-change diagram | drawing that shows the relationship among temperature and changes of state |
| plasma | a state of matter that forms when temperature are high enough to completely remove electrons from the atoms to which they were bond |
