Describe The Movement of Particles in Solids, Liquids, Gases, etc.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| State of Matter | the physical forms of matter in which include solid, liquid, and gas. |
| Solid | the state of matter in which the volume and shape of a substance are fixed. |
| Liquid | the state of matter that does not have a definite volume but has a definite shape. |
| Gas | the state of matter that does not have a definite volume or shape. |
| Melting Point | temperature at which a substance changes from a solid to a liquid. |
| Vaporization | process in which a liquid changes to a gas |
| Boiling Point | the temperature at which a liquid boils |
| Condensation | the change of state from a gas to a liquid |
| Freezing Point | the temperature at which liquid changes into a solid |
| Sublimation | the process in which a solid changes directly into a gas |
| Phase-change diagram | drawing that shows the relationships among temperature and changes of state |
| Plasma | a state of matter that forms when temperatures are high enough to completely remove electrons from the atoms to which they were bound |
