Describe the difference between pure substances
Term | Definition |

Chemical Symbol | A one or two-letter code that represents an element |
Pure Substances | A sample of matter, either a single element or a single compound, that has definite chemical and physical properties |
Compound | A substance made up of atoms of two or more different elements joined by chemical bonds |
Molecule | The smallest unit of an substance that keeps all of the physical and chemical properties of that substance |
Chemical Formula | A combination of chemical symbols and numbers to represent a substance |
Subscript | A small number written to the right and slightly below a chemical symbol to tell the number of atoms |
Mixture | A combination of two or more substances that are not chemically combined |
