Describe the Differences Between Pure Substances and Mixtures
| Term | Definition |

| Pure Substance | a sample of matter, either in a single element or a single compound, that has definite chemical and physical properties. |
| Compound | a substance made up of atoms of two or more different elements joined by a chemical bond. |
| Molecule | The smallest unit of a substance that keeps all of the physical and chemical properties of that substance. |
| Chemical Formula | A combination of chemical symbols and numbers to represent a substance. |
| Subscript | a small number written to the right and slightly below a chemical symbol to tell the number of atoms of that element in the substance |
| Mixture | A combination of two or more substances that are not chemically combined. |
