Experimental Design Definitions

TermDefinition
independent variable The variable that you change on purpose
dependent variable The variable that you measure or record
levels of the independent variable The different values of the independent variable
constants All of the things that must stay the same during the experiment
repeated trials The number of times the experiment is done
control One of the levels of the IV that the other levels are compared to
title A sentence that reads "The Effect of (IV) on (DV)
hypothesis An "If...Then" statement that is an educated guess
experiment A test done to prove or disprove a hypothesis
