abrasion the act of scraping, rubbing, or grinding to wear away a surface
breaking wave the result of waves dragging on the bottom causing water to curl
delta the deposition of sediments at the mouth of a river or stream
erosion the carrying away of sediment by wind, water, ice and other agents
finger lake a body of water that forms in a long narrow u shaped valley
flood plain nearly level plain that borders a stream or river
glacial groove a long narrow channel or furrow on bedrock formed by the gouging and sanding actions of rocks and sediments in the glacier
glacier a large mass of natural formed ice on land that moves downhill due to gravity
mass movement any variety of erosion and deposition done directly by gravity
meander a curve or bend in a stream or river
sandbar a pile or low ridge of sand often just off shore
sandblasting erosion by wind carrying sand and hitting things
sediment particles or materials that were formed by weathering and erosion of rocks
stream water flowing through a channel on land
stream channel shape the shape of the body of rock or loose materials that confine the stream
u shaped valley the type of valley created by a glacier
v shaped valley the type of valley created by a river
watershed the area of land drained by one stream
weathering the chemical and physical alterations of rock and other earth materials
barrier island long narrow island parallel to the shore built of sand deposited by ocean waves
deposition the process by which sediments are released or droppped
drumlin a low, long, narrow streamlined oval mound of unsorted sediment that is formed at the bottom of the glacier
kettle lake a lake formed when an ice chunk breaks off the glacier and melts in place
moraine a mound, ridge of unsorted, unlayered sediment deposited directly from an edge or bottom of a glacier
outwash plain the sorted and layered sediments deposited out in front of a glacier
sand dune a pile, hill or mound of sand deposited by wind on a land surface
